Tags decide whether a core does anything

This is the part that separates a working build from twelve wasted slots. Some fragments are self-contained. Others only fire when you already hold a source of a specific tag.

The clearest confirmed example is the Toxic-Drone Core. It carries the tags Toxic Fog Drone and reads: "When Toxic Fog damages an enemy, summons 1 temporary Drone for 20s. It has 50% Drone stats. Cooldown: 30s."

So the pick order that works is:

  1. Early slots: take fragments that stand alone and set a tag direction. A Drone core, a Toxic Fog core.
  2. Middle slots: take fragments that key off tags you now hold.
  3. Late slots: take raw numbers, or redraw for the combination piece you are missing.

How to read a core card in five seconds

  1. Frame colour — rough power tier.
  2. Tag icons at the top — does this need something I do not have?
  3. The numbers in colour — the game highlights the values that scale (damage, duration, cooldown).
  4. Stack count — 0 → 1/1 means this is capped at one. It will not scale by taking it again.
  5. Immunity clauses — Drone EMP's "Sector Overlords are immune" is the difference between a boss tool and a trash-clear tool.

What are Core Seeds?

A currency granted after an expedition ends. Some fragments explicitly grant extra — one observed offer stated it gives two Core Seeds at the end of the Expedition.

What is the best core in Pax Autocratica?

There is no published core list, so any ranked tier list is guesswork. What is verifiable is the structure: rarity sets power, tags set whether a core functions at all.

What do the colours mean?

Green, purple and red frames have been observed on offers, in ascending visual prominence — consistent with a common / rare / top-rarity ordering. Multiverse has not published a rarity table.
